Department Information

Department Name: Department of Chemistry

Year of Establishment (UG & PG): UG – 1982

                                                              PG — 1990

The department of Chemistry was established in 1982 having student centric goal. Currently there are 12 faculty (6 granted, 4 CHB and 2 contractual faculty) working in the department. Six faculty members are Ph.D. holder, five are pursuing Ph.D., and four faculties are NET/SET qualified. Department has research facilities with research recognized lab by KBCNMU, Jalgaon. From our department 24 research students awarded Ph. D degree and 2 research students awarded M.Phil degree by Kavyitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. Presently Six students are working for perusing Ph.D. degree. The thrust areas of research are Solution Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Chemo-sensing, Heterocyclic Chemistry, Phyto-chemistry and Polymer Chemistry etc.

Our department received grants of Rs. 442000/- from UGC through minor projects and completed six minor research projects.

Four staff members have received Fellowship under Faculty Improvement Programme form UGC, New Delhi to complete their Ph.D. degree.

The faculty of our department represented our college in the Academic Council, BOS and other academic bodies of the Kavyitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. The passing percentage of our student is always more than 80%.

Recently the department has signed MOU with Vasudhara Diary (Biladi, Valsad Branch, Gujarat).

Certificate course in soil and water analysis has been carried out by our department. The Chemistry Association organized various activities for the overall development of students.

Specific objectives: To strengthen the academic and physical infrastructure for achieving excellence in teaching and training.

To enhance the quality of the teaching and learning process to stimulate original thinking through ‘hands–on’ exposure to experimental work and participation in summer schools. •

To promote networking and strengthen ties with neighbouring institutions and other laboratories. •

To conduct specialized training programmes for faculty improvement for optimizing technical capabilities through FDP programme.

• To provide access and exposure for students in research laboratories and industries throughout nation and abroad. • To provide better access for library facility to students and teachers through Reference Books, Journals and E-resources.

• To organize expert lecture series by inviting resource persons from National/ International institutes, Industries and NGO’s.
